If you are looking to improve and take your racing to the next level I highly recommend getting a coach. This is important for those who want to increase their ability and reach higher levels. I find structure and encouragment from a knowledeable and seasoned professional rider can help keep you motivated (less chance of getting burned out) and healthy on the bike (don't want to overtrain). And of course a coach is going to help you get stronger/faster so that you can reach your goals. A coach is for riders at any level. We can always improve our riding at any stage in our career.
I have been fortunate to work with Ben Day, a professional rider since 2002 who has competed and won many top level races around the world. Ben is from Australia, but currently resides in Boulder. After experiencing other coaches what I like about Ben is that he has a grip on reality for those of us that work full time jobs, have kids, etc. He takes the challenges that each individual holds in life and creates a personal training program to suit their needs. I know finding a coach can be a hard task. Like I said I have been through many, and most were so busy with other riders that my program was never personal. So if finding a great coach is something you are looking into check out Ben's website. He might just be an awesome fit for you. From my experience with him, it has been quite easy for me to get back in the swing of things after being off the bike so long. And as long as I inform him about whats going on in my life he will design my program so it fits nicely with my day to day crazy life. |
